The right to dissent in the US and “strategic voting” in the 2024 Presidential election
“Dissent should never lead to disorder,” said Mississippi Gov. Ross Barnett and Alabama Gov. George Wallace in a joint statement in 1963.
Oh, no, wait… That was Democratic President Joe Biden yesterday.1

Joe Biden, State of the Union, 2022: “Fund the police. Fund them. Fund them. Fund them.”3
This is our choice for President in America this year. Donald Trump, a senile orange mobster. And a Democratic President who loves cops, hates dissent, and will never say no to Israel even when they are engaged in a brutal war on civilians in Gaza. A war that certainly involves massive violations of the laws of war and humanitarian law, and sure looks like it fits the definition of genocide in the 1948 Genocide Convention.
On Monday, [Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel] Smotrich urged Israel to destroy its enemies. "There are no half-jobs," he said. "Rafah, Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat – total destruction. 'Thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.' There is no place for them under heaven." Plain and simple – total destruction. There is no room for interpretation.4
Ana Kasparian – who lately has been sounding like Crime Bill Joe Biden circa 1993 when it comes to fund-fund-*fund* the police – nevertheless has a good report with Cenk Uygur on TYT about the police and rightwing protesters attacking and arresting peaceful protesters at UCLA5:
None of this changes the fact that Donald Trump as President was and would continue to be more of a danger to democracy and to world peace than Joe Biden is. Also, he’s facing dozens of criminal indictments. But Biden’s Israel policy is really bad and really dangerous for US interests. And his attitudes toward the right to protest and violent criminal conduct by police are disgusting.
Biden’s “dissent should never lead to disorder” comment was a defense of violent rightwing thugs attacking peaceful protesters and of cops breaking the law themselves by committing criminal violence against peaceful protesters.
Ross and George would be proud of him.
