John Mearsheimer and various other military and political analysts have been pointing out for months that with the failure of Ukraine’s 2023 counteroffensive to recapture large amounts of territory or to deliver major military setbacks to the Russian forces, that Ukraine is stuck in a 1914-style war of attrition.
