I find Snyder definitely stuck in the past and perhaps even Russophobic; the two seem to go hand in hand. He's also inconsistent in that his previous criticisms of Ukraine's far right completely disappeared in favour of demonizing Putin as fascist. Not exactly even handed considering the fact that the far right is on the march in both places, and everywhere actually.
