Kamala Harris: a pro at underwhelming voters?
Are you wondering what Kamala Harris is doing these days? What, you ask, “Isn’t she Vice President on Secretary of the Interior or something?” Well, yes, she is. And, no, you’re not the only one who doesn’t have a clear idea of what she’s doing or where she really stands on anything.
Well, Katie Couric just did an interview with her.1 It was polite but not entirely a softball one, either.
If you think the live Kamala often sounds a lot like what an AI Kamala would sound like, you’re not alone. Jacobin just has a new print issue out focusing on AI, including a snarky feature calleld CHATVP: “Until recently, nobody could generate meaningless platitudes more efficiently than Vice President Kamala Harris.”
It features a few examples of Kamala’s artistry2:
This kind of thing is fine if you’re a “human relations” officer at a corporation and you have to give talks that everyone is required to attend but no one really cares about or takes particularly seriously.
She speaks in the first part of her Couric interview about abortion rights. But it’s telling that she says she had always expressed support for them prior to the Dobbs decision. But she had just assumed that Roe was the law of the land and never really thought American women would have to fight for those rights again.
In other words, she was just repeating items off the stock Democratic fund-raising e-mail list.
I voted for Kamala when she was on the California ballot for Senate. But it’s hard to imagine her seriously getting enthusiastic about an issue and fighting for it.
She’s good at reciting talking points, though. So there’s that.
And she has some stock talking points for this year she uses in the interview. Like she’s “scared as heck” that Trump might be reelected. And that she and Biden have to earn “the reelect.” She manages to come off as a bit of a stiff, in other words.

Wow, just brutal. I haven't paid much attention to her other than than negative murmours. Now I get it. Another reason the Dems are in big trouble.
