Last Saturday I attended a panel at the Vienna Book Fair (Wien Buch Messe) on the Russia-Ukraine War featuring a leading Austrian political scientist, Anton Pelinka, moderated by Cathrin Kahlweit of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The other two panelists were Ukrainian poet and translator Ganna Gendkova and Leigh Turner, who has served as Britain’s Ambassador to both Ukraine and Austria. (Journalist Armin Thurnher recently referred to Pelinka as “the doyen of Austrian political scientists”.
